"Fire-fights, bug hunts, big body counts... yeah, I could use a break."
- Riley in 'As You Were'
Welcome Back!
First order of business...If you're a returning guest from Week 1 (and I have to use that 'Week 1' title pretty loosely, now), I'm happy to see you again. If you're a new visitor just checking in for the Jane Espenson interview, I'm thrilled you took the time to check the ol' page out.
Second order of business...As some of you know, 'Week 1' of the Post Mortem came out in, like, September or something, meaning I've been on virtual hiatus (no pun intended) for about a month - mucho apologies, amigos, and some explanations. Some of the material I'm using this time 'round was swiped from sites not of the official variety or completely unaffialiated with FOX, Mutant Enemy and/or Jane Espenson. This meant that if I wanted to use it, I had to get some permissions mailed and approved before running it (the Mark Bright storyboards are a perfect example of that). That took a while. Longer than I'd anticipated, actually. Well, Mark was quick to respond, but those folks at the unofficial Jane Espenson site are slow like molasses (just kidding...thanks for the help PMC!). I also wanted to update some of the interviews seeing as there had been movement on the Buffy Animated project, and Tru Calling got pretty much flushed down the toilet at the same time.
I actually had the site formatted and ready to go over two weeks ago, but...like I said.
Still, the good news is that the durn thing is up, it looks good, it reads good and the next update is almost ready to go as I speak (expect Alex Sanchez and Derek Fridolfs on October 27th!!!)
Third order of business...I just completed an interview with Buffy/Angel writer, David Fury, so stay tuned for that one in a few weeks. We got about 60 minutes of tape and I have to go and transcribe the little bugger before I can post it here. We had a good convo, though. Talked about Buffy and what it was like working on that show, Angel and what it was like to work on that show, and Lost before we ran out of tape.
Fourth order of business...James Hudnall and Harsh Realm. I did this interview way back in '99 and, like I said on the mian page, when looking for an old interview to format and put up (continuing the archiving project I've begun with all my old pieces) I couldn't help but be influenced by the Harsh Realm DVDs that I just bought and absorbed. I loved that show back then, and I like it just as much now. Anyway, the two sort of made sense so...hope it tickles someone's fancy.
So, enjoy Jane and the other stuff the site has to offer. If you have any comments, feel free to hit the Forum link at the bottom of the page or on the sidebar - always happy to start up a little chatter.
Hope to see you for Week 3 when I'll interview Tales of the Vampires artists, Alex Sanchez and Derek Fridolfs!
